well that's not true. i'm an euro-car enthusiast, but you have to give respect where it's due. you see for $35k you can get brand new evo which is going to be a great car on the track, street, or off-road. sure you're sacrificing some comfort, but it depends on what you're into. And you definately can't compare "M" cars which cost over $40k to an EVO. besides, anyone who has the ball$ to call an evo a rice rocket, better have something that can go really fast and handle like crazy.

first off, you can get an 04-05 m3 for UNDER 35k and walk all over the evo both on the track and the street, second, i like evos myself, but it doesnt change the fact that it is STILL an all wheel drive turbo 4 banger with a big loud exhaust(rice can), and you cant compare mits. to bmw, period... i own a 335 btw, and havent lost to an evo yet, and i've raced quite a few, including 400+hp stage 2+... nevertheless evo is a fun car, and i used to want one, until i got a bimmer...and thank god i did

now you've lost all credibility. you're telling me your 335 twin turbo with 300hp is faster than a lighter evo with 400+ hp? no way. and as i said evo is a better performance car than an m3 but is not a good daily driver, while m3 is decent in performance but very good for daily driver. i want to see you take your 335 against an evo in snow...

no i didnt loose my anythin, since my 335 wasnt stock neither, far from it... look at lap times of m3, and evos around the tracks... and why and where would i find snow in california? and why would i race in show anyway?lol

whats wrong u guys? both car Evo and 135i is great cars both Mitsubishi and BMW were great only things is depend on the customers wether to choose BMW or Mitsubishi

No, you fail. The EVO would walk all over an "x" BMW. Their AWD is nowhere near the rally inspired EVO. The EVO 8 and 9 are much faster than an X which is more of a driving car than a performer. BMW's are overprices and once used they depreciate quite a bit.

this has to be the dumbest car comparison i have ever seen . the beamer is not a true rally car nor does it race in the same manner put the cars on the gravel and see what you think. the beamer is a white collar transport. the evo is a all around bad ass .

well if you would've noticed his introduction, he already told you that he's "a young man looking for a fun sports car"... therefore when he's comparing these two cars, he's looking for the unoticable differences that some newcomers don't see... he's not exactly stating which is the better car. He's just stating their differences... what's a comparison without it's differences? it'd be like comparing a Camry to another Camry... sorta stupid don't you think?

the guy in this review wasn't "beating on" the EVO's. In fact he said it was a great car. Just because a car u like loses a comparo doesnt mean you need to get defensive about it and discredit american reviewers. The point of this review was to find the best all-arounder for a "young guy seeking performance for everyday etc..". American car mags and reviewers have raved about the evo's and they've won every comparison against the STI in all mag reviews here.

Dude I wish I had gotten the 135i instead of the X. Im a dumbass yes the X is fun to drive but I look like an ass driving it around town. I took off the huge gay wing and parked side by side with a 135i and the BMW is just a overall better car. If I lived next to a race track then the evo wins but I live in gettho ass Los Angeles city of traffic and asses so the evo losses bmw wins just like motortrend guy says so.

That sucks man. I hope you can find a way to get a 135i or 335i. There's nothin worse than spending all that money and having buyer's remorse. I haven't seen the X's without the huge spoiler on it, it's gotta look a shit-ton better that way:)

I've driven a 135 around an F1 track, it is an absolute beast. The two turbos just keep giving, it's go go go from the start of a gear to the end of it.

yes 135 isnt a rally car. and this review wasnt intended to show which one is the "true rally car" because if they did, they would run up the m3 against the evo since m3 has the real rally car history.

if you wanting to have a good comparision on what a young guy in his 20s to 30s would prefer, pick at least 4 or 5 good examples. i didn't mind the comparision it just seemed silly. you should have picked gt500 , vet , evo , 135i ,and any guad cab 4x4.now that's a show i want to see.

Being a California resident where it's usually sunny here, I'd probably go for the BMW.
However, if I lived in an area where it rains and snow pretty often, I'd take the EVO.

that boy in motor trend lies,BMW 135I is cost more than 35k and the Evo X only cost $33,800,plus if I add new Vishnu tunning and exhaust for $1000 and that will equal the prices and eat that twin Turbo V6 BMW for luch and dinner .bring EvoX to 12.7 sec and 109 mph,this boy BS too much and he is a senior for Motor Trend ? no wonder Motor Trend no longer popular magazine any longer
